Tucked away in Gov. Phil Murphy's proposed 2024 state budget announced last week is a major victory for Jersey City: $12 million more for the development of the future Centre Pompidou satellite museum. The branch of the world-renowned Parisian museum — Pompidou x Jersey City — is considered a vital project for the city in its revitalization of Journal Square, which is being reinvented as an entertainment mecca. Announced by the city in 2021, the satellite museum is expected to open next year or 2025.
